When same-day makes sense
Urgent cleanups, mostly. Heavy winds or snow can bring down branches, fences and roofing in an afternoon. There are also hours when the trucks stay away from homes: Lakewood's noise code bars loading and unloading trash trucks within 300 feet of a residential building on Sundays, on six listed holidays and from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. (§9.52.130). How to get a container today

Keep the drop spot clear of cars and equipment and mark it, and the driver sets the container down whether or not you are home. One thing same-day cannot promise is a street placement: in Lakewood a temporary roll-off in the right-of-way needs a no-charge Public Way permit before it is placed, and only when there is no suitable spot on the property (§8.14.028); in Denver the street permit goes only to the container company and the City allows five business days to process it. So a same-day box goes on the driveway or the lot.
