Construction Dumpster Rental across the west Denver metro
A job site does not make one kind of waste. Demolition comes out heavy — concrete, tile, brick, shingles — then framing and drywall come out light and bulky, then the finish phase is packaging and offcuts. We size each phase on its own: a 10 or 15 for the heavy material, a 30 or 40 for the bulk, and scheduled swap-outs so the crew never waits on a full box. Most contractors in Lakewood find the 20 yard ideal for remodels, while 30 and 40 yard containers are best for larger construction and demolition work — from a residential build in a Lakewood neighborhood to a commercial project across the west metro.
In Lakewood the sorting matters more than it used to. The City's building code makes new buildings, additions and remodels over 2,500 square feet, and any building demolition, file a waste management plan, provide labeled containers on site for recyclable materials, and send hauler or recycling center receipts before the certificate of occupancy or final inspection (§14.02.040(J)). Asphalt, concrete, cardboard, untreated wood, metal and reusable architectural salvage are the required materials, and the City wants legible weight tickets showing the quantity, material type, date and destination. A clean, separated load and a box sized for the weight keep the job on budget. The Lakewood permit guide covers the street questions.

Demolition, framing, roofing and finish
Demolition debris is where the weight is. Concrete, tile and brick go in the smaller containers because of weight restrictions. Framing, drywall and packaging go in 20s and 30s. Roofing and siding jobs — shingles, underlayment and scrap — go in a 10, 15 or 20 depending on the size of the roof. Landscaping and excavation with soil, sod and rock go in small boxes within the weight limit.
Asbestos is a state matter. Before any demolition, homes included, Colorado requires the area to be inspected by a Colorado-certified asbestos inspector and a demolition notice filed with CDPHE ten working days before work starts, even if no asbestos was found (AQCC Regulation 8, Part B); the notice carries a $50 base fee plus $5 per 1,000 square feet. Concrete or wood bonded with or contaminated by asbestos-containing material cannot be recycled, and asbestos waste must go to an approved asbestos disposal site regardless of quantity. It never goes in a roll-off, and we will ask what the building is before we quote a demo job.
Job-site placement and the City of Lakewood
On a private lot we place where the driver can reach it and the crew can load it, on a hard, all-weather surface (§8.14.025(D)). A temporary roll-off in a Lakewood street needs a no-charge Public Way permit through eTRAKiT before it is placed — only when there is no suitable spot on the property, and for no more than 30 days unless the City extends it (§8.14.028). On state highways such as West Colfax, Sheridan Boulevard and Wadsworth Boulevard, work in the right-of-way needs a state and a City permit (§12.04.040(A)), and we found no CDOT permit path for a temporary container. Keep the site tidy between hauls: Lakewood requires scrap construction materials, refuse and debris to be stored so the elements cannot carry them onto a street or a neighbor's property (§9.30.030). Near homes, Lakewood's noise code keeps construction and trash-truck loading off Sundays, six listed holidays and the hours from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. (§§9.52.130, 9.52.140).

Construction dumpster rental — the local specifics
Recycling rules now reach most of the bigger jobs we deliver to. In Lakewood, applicable projects pay a performance security deposit of $1 per square foot, up to $100,000, and must upload weight tickets within 60 days of permit closure or forfeit it; the City's guide tells contractors whose hauler does not usually recycle to explain where the materials should go and that they need weight tickets for proof of recycling. Residential and accessory demolition needs a waste management plan at any size, while interior demolition and asbestos abatement need none. In Denver, the Universal Recycling and Composting Ordinance covers permit applications first submitted on or after September 1, 2026: new buildings, additions and demolitions over 500 square feet and renovations or tenant finish over 2,500 square feet must divert at least 50 percent of the debris by weight, recycling or reusing at least three covered materials, and prove it with weight tickets or donation receipts; trade-only permits such as roofing are exempt. Hauler licences are the other thing: Lakewood (Ch. 5.29), Denver (DRMC 48-62), Englewood (EMC 5-26), Sheridan (§22-217), Westminster (§5-7-2), Edgewater (§6-8-20), Arvada (§90-51) and Golden (§4.80.015) each license haulers, and several exempt a contractor hauling their own job's debris. Arvada also requires construction and demolition contractors to keep on-site containers and containerize loose debris by the end of each day (§90-2). Every town page quotes the section.

Answers
Construction Dumpster Rental — your questions answered
Do you do swap-outs?
Yes. Once the container is full we schedule pickup or bring a replacement, and long-term projects usually set up scheduled swap-outs at the start. Contractors with several active sites can line up ongoing service across them.
Can I mix concrete with other debris?
You can, but it costs you. Concrete fills the weight allowance long before the box looks full, so we usually run a 10 or 15 for rubble alongside a bigger box for the rest. On a Lakewood or Denver permit that requires recycling, a clean load of concrete or asphalt is also easier to recycle and document than a mixed one.
Can you deliver to a site with no address yet?
Yes — give us the nearest cross streets and a site contact, and we coordinate timing and placement for your job site before the truck goes out.
Do I need a permit for a container on a Lakewood job site?
Not for the container on the lot, as far as the City's published code says — the Public Way permit is for the street, and it is no-charge, allowed only when there is no suitable spot on the property, and good for 30 days unless extended (§8.14.028). Your building or demolition permit may bring the recycling rule with it (§14.02.040(J)), and any demolition needs a CDPHE notice ten working days ahead. We flag it when you book.
Which cities license construction haulers?
Lakewood, Denver, Englewood, Sheridan, Westminster, Edgewater, Arvada and Golden each license waste haulers, and Lakewood's and Denver's rules count construction and demolition debris as solid waste. Several exempt a contractor hauling waste from their own job. We found no exclusive roll-off franchise anywhere we serve, and no hauler licence in unincorporated Jefferson County. Each town page says what that code says.
