Roll-off dumpster rental in Golden

Approx. 11 road miles from the yard, around 18 minutes.

Golden is approx. 11 road miles west of the yard, around 18 minutes — same-day or next-day, depending on availability; call early in the day for the best chance of same-day. It is a city of 20,399 at the 2020 Census and the seat of Jefferson County government.

Jefferson County says Golden was founded in 1859 at the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon and temporarily served as the territorial capital. The City contracts a provider for residential trash, but its code says bulk waste is removed by private arrangement with that provider or another licensed provider authorized to haul in the city, or by the resident (§4.82.030(c)), and nothing stops anyone contracting for their own hauling (§4.82.040). The City's free large-item pickup takes no cement, steel, dirt, rocks or bricks. Remodels, roofs and clean-outs go out in roll-offs.

Local knowledge

Getting our bearings in Golden

Knowing a city properly is the difference between covering it and showing up with the right box.

  • Golden History Museum — owned and run by the City and free to visit; the City calls Golden the first territorial capital of Colorado.
  • One free large item a year — the City's pay-as-you-throw households get one free large-item pickup per calendar year, but construction-type items such as cement, steel, dirt, rocks and bricks are not accepted.
  • Community Clean-up Days — once a year the City takes non-hazardous junk from residents for free; hazardous waste goes to Rooney Road.
  • Rooney Road and Tincup Ridge — the Rooney Road Recycling Center (household hazardous waste, by appointment) and the County's Tincup Ridge SLASH Yard sit side by side on Rooney Rd in Golden.

What comes out of Golden properties

Roofs in 10s and 20s, kitchens and baths in 20s, estate clean-outs and multi-room remodels in 30s, construction and demolition in 30s and 40s, and a 10 or 15 for concrete, brick and dirt — weight restrictions keep heavy loads in the smaller boxes. Cement, dirt, rocks and bricks are exactly what the City's large-item pickup turns away. Colorado bans waste electronics (C.R.S. 25-17-303), lead-acid batteries (C.R.S. 30-20-1002) and used oil (C.R.S. 30-20-1005) from landfills, and fridges and A/C units need the refrigerant recovered first (40 CFR 82.155).

Permits, placement and who may haul in Golden

Who may haul — the rule that matters: §4.80.015(a) makes it unlawful to operate as a solid waste collector in the city without a City licence; people hauling their own waste and construction or demolition contractors and landscapers hauling their own job's waste are exempt. The City's residential contract does not lock out bulk waste, which can go with another licensed provider (§4.82.030(c)). Collection on local residential and residential collector streets is barred from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. (§4.80.065), so drop-offs and pickups on those streets are booked in daytime. We're licensed and insured.

In the street: any work in the public right-of-way needs a permit, and work includes any use or storage of equipment or materials (§11.20.040); trash dumpsters are not placed in the street without the director's specific approval (§11.20.170(c)(3)). The City's right-of-way page asks for a traffic control plan for any occupancy of streets, sidewalks, trails, parking lanes, alleys or bike lanes, NO PARK signs placed 24 hours in advance, and no occupancy on City holidays.

On your driveway: a driveway or job site skips the street rules, and our crew confirms the spot with you at drop-off.

Knocking something down: Colorado requires an inspection by a Colorado-certified asbestos inspector and a CDPHE demolition notice ten working days before any demolition starts, homes included, even if no asbestos is found (AQCC Regulation 8). Asbestos never goes in our containers — tell us if the survey finds any.

How it works

Booking a dumpster in Golden

Booking a container here takes one phone call and about five minutes.

  1. 1

Call and tell us the job

One short conversation. We ask the location, what you are clearing — a cleanout, a renovation, a roof, a yard, a job site — roughly how much there is, and how much room the driveway or lot gives us.

  2. 2

We size it and quote it flat

You get one number that covers delivery, pickup, disposal, the standard rental period and an included weight allowance. If a smaller box does the job we will say so. If it is concrete, shingles or dirt, we say up front that weight decides the size.

  3. 3

    Delivered where you want it

The driver sets the container on the driveway, lot or job site where you asked, on a hard surface rather than the lawn. Often same-day or next-day, depending on availability. You do not need to be home.

  4. 4

    Load it on your schedule

Keep it below the top edge and keep the banned items out — paint and solvents, chemicals, oil and fuel, batteries, tires, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos, and TVs, computers and other electronics. Need more time or a swap mid-job? One call.

  5. 5

We haul it and dispose of it right

The load is covered or secured and goes to an approved facility, with metal, concrete, cardboard and yard debris recycled through local Colorado facilities whenever possible. You get your driveway back the way you left it.

Local answers

Dumpster rental in Golden — common questions

Is Golden same-day?

Same-day or next-day, depending on availability — it is about 18 minutes from the yard. Call (720) 370-8548 early in the day for the best chance.

Can I use a roll-off if the City handles my trash?

Yes. Golden code says bulk waste can be removed by another licensed provider authorized to haul in the city (Sec. 4.82.030(c)), and nothing stops you contracting for your own hauling (Sec. 4.82.040).

Do I need a permit for a dumpster in a Golden street?

Yes. Work in the right-of-way needs a City permit (Sec. 11.20.040), dumpsters need the director's approval to go in the street (Sec. 11.20.170(c)(3)), and the City asks for NO PARK signs 24 hours ahead.

Will the City take my concrete or bricks?

No. The City's large-item pickup does not accept cement, steel, dirt, rocks or bricks.
