Dumpster Rental Cost in Lakewood, CO: What It Covers

The honest answer is that we quote every job by phone, for your address and your material. The useful answer is what goes into that number and what moves it. Here is the arithmetic behind the quote.

Dumpster Rental Cost in Lakewood, CO: What It Covers

The typical range, and why we quote by phone

Dumpster rental pricing in Lakewood typically ranges from $350 to $750. Where a job lands depends on the dumpster size, the type and weight of the materials, the delivery location, the rental duration and the number of pickups or exchanges. We offer clear, flat-rate pricing that includes delivery, pickup and disposal, with no hidden fees.

We quote by phone rather than post a price list because the things that decide the number — what is going in, how heavy it is and how far the truck runs — change from job to job. A 15 yard of carpet in Arvada and a 10 yard of broken patio in Littleton are different jobs at the scale and on the road. Call (720) 370-8548 with the address and the material for an exact quote. We accept major credit and debit cards, and payment is processed at the time of booking to secure your delivery date.

Where the number comes from: disposal

The biggest cost inside any flat rate is disposal. Lakewood requires all garbage, trash and refuse to be delivered "to a state approved sanitary landfill or an approved solid waste collection and transfer facility" (§8.14.040), and its new hauler code requires a State or Federally approved site (§5.29.130). Different facilities take different materials at different rates, so the material and the facility decide the disposal cost, and we build it into your flat rate. We work with local Colorado facilities that prioritize recycling whenever possible, including metal, concrete, asphalt, cardboard and yard debris. The City of Lakewood publishes a C&D Waste Diversion Directory of recycling and reuse facilities — a reference list, not an endorsement.

Recycling rules can also carry a deposit. In Lakewood, projects that need a construction or demolition waste plan (§14.02.040(J)) pay a performance security deposit of $1 per square foot, up to $100,000, and forfeit it if weight tickets are not uploaded within 60 days of permit closure. In Denver, qualifying permits applied for from September 1, 2026 pay a $105 administrative fee and a refundable deposit, and must divert at least half their debris by weight from at least three covered materials, with weight tickets as proof. Keeping clean concrete, asphalt and metal apart protects that deposit — if your permit needs weight tickets, tell us when you book.

The things that move it

Weight. Each dumpster includes a weight allowance based on its size — typically 1–2 tons on a 10 yard, 2–3 on a 15, 3–4 on a 20, 4–5 on a 30 and 5–6 on a 40. If your load exceeds the limit, an additional fee may apply based on weight. Concrete, dirt, brick, asphalt, tile and shingles use it up fast, so we explain pricing and weight up front.

Days. Most rentals include a standard rental period of up to 7 days, and your quote confirms the days. Need longer? Call and we can extend your rental for an additional fee. Finished early? Call and we arrange pickup sooner.

Distance. Delivery location is part of every quote. From our yard on Kendall Street, approx. road miles are: Edgewater 1, Wheat Ridge 2, central Lakewood 3, downtown Denver 5, Arvada and Applewood 6, Westminster 8, Sheridan and Bow Mar 9, Englewood 10, Golden 11, Morrison, Littleton and Columbine 13, and Ken Caryl 14. Approximate figures, but they explain why the longer runs can cost a little more.

What the do-it-yourself options cost

For a small job, a City program or a drop-off may do. For anything bigger, the limits add up:

OptionPublished charge or limitNotes
Lakewood bulky itemsNo City pickup; bulky items "can be picked up for a fee by your waste hauler or junk removal company"Dumping bulky waste in alleys or on private property is illegal

Every DIY trip is a covered load. Colorado law says no vehicle may be moved on a highway unless the load is "securely covered to prevent any of its load from blowing, dropping, sifting, leaking, or otherwise escaping", and trash or recyclables need a tarp or other cover (C.R.S. 42-4-1407); Lakewood mirrors that (§10.54.050, §9.30.020). Add the drive, the gate hours and the appointment slots, and past a handful of trips one roll-off usually wins on money and on weekends.

Permit costs, and the cost of getting it wrong

None of these change our flat rate, but they can add to the cost of a job. In Lakewood we found no permit for a roll-off on a private driveway, and the Public Way permit for a street spot is a no-fee permit (§8.14.028) — though it is only allowed when there is no suitable spot on the property, and the general penalty runs up to $2,650 (§1.16.020(A)). In Denver a residential street placement is $125 for the first 5 days and $4.50 a day after, $7.50 a day after on collector and arterial streets, and the DOTI schedule lists a $500 non-standard fee for dumpster non-compliance. In unincorporated Jefferson County the container permit is $50, plus 2.5% by card. Westminster charges $500 per occurrence for unpermitted right-of-way work, Littleton assesses $250 on a first offense, and Edgewater can tow an unpermitted container. On a state highway we found no permit path at all.

Two more costs worth knowing. A demolition in Colorado needs an inspection by a Colorado-certified asbestos inspector and a CDPHE notice ten working days before work starts — "even if no asbestos was found" — and CDPHE lists a demolition notice fee of $50 plus $5 per 1,000 square feet. And Colorado keeps electronics, car batteries, used oil and tires out of its landfills — that is why they are on our no list, and the what-goes-in guide says what to do with each instead.

Where the money hides

The most expensive container is the heavy one that should have been two. Concrete, dirt, brick and asphalt belong in a 10 or 15 yard — loading them into a big box with everything else is how a job goes over its weight allowance. Mixed loads matter too: a clean load of concrete, asphalt or metal can go to recycling and produce the weight tickets a Lakewood or Denver recycling plan asks for, while the same material buried in a remodel load cannot. Prohibited items — paint, solvents and oils, fuel, tires, batteries, hazardous chemicals, propane tanks and gas cylinders, medical waste, asbestos and appliances containing refrigerants — do not belong in the box. And never load above the top edge: keeping debris level ensures safe transport and avoids additional charges.

Dumpster or junk removal, and getting a quote

For anything beyond a couple of pickup loads, a container you load yourself is usually the better value, because you are paying for the box rather than the labor. For a single couch or appliance, or a cleanout with nobody to lift, our junk removal service may suit you better: our team loads, hauls and disposes of everything, priced on volume and labor, with same-day service available in many cases. Call (720) 370-8548 — the phone is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In many areas around Lakewood and nearby communities we offer same-day or next-day delivery depending on availability; call early in the day for the best chance of same-day.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a dumpster in Lakewood?

Typically $350 to $750, depending on the dumpster size, the type of materials, the delivery location and the rental duration. Our flat rate includes delivery, pickup and disposal, with no hidden fees.

What is included in a flat rate?

Delivery and pickup, disposal up to the weight allowance, and the standard rental period of up to 7 days. Going over the weight allowance or keeping the box longer are what can add to it.

Does a Lakewood street permit cost extra?

The City lists the Public Way dumpster permit as a no-fee permit (§8.14.028), but it is only allowed when there is no suitable spot on the property. In Denver the container company pulls the street permit, at $125 for the first 5 days on a residential street.

Does it cost more outside Lakewood?

Delivery location is part of the quote, so the longer runs can cost a little more: Golden is approx. 11 road miles from our yard and Ken Caryl approx. 14. Permit rules and fees also change by city.
